Manchester United season tickets have been suspended for fans using six or more devices to access club accounts, sparking outrage among supporter groups who accuse the club of treating loyal fans like suspects. The move is part of a crackdown on illegal ticket reselling, but long-time season ticket holders say the process lacks transparency and fairness.
Background on the Ticket Suspension Controversy
The club sent emails to fans who accessed their accounts from multiple devices, citing potential breaches of ticketing terms. United argues that such activity suggests the buying of seats to resell, which is prohibited. Fans are allowed only to forward tickets to other members or sell them back to the club. Those contacted were asked to explain their device usage and provide photo ID to prove their validity.

In a joint statement, supporter groups including the Manchester United Supporters Trust (Must) and The 1958 said: "Professional touting, automated purchasing and those who exploit supporters for financial gain have no place at Manchester United and deserve robust action. However, that action must be fair, proportionate and transparent."
Fan Reactions and Calls for Due Process
Many fans have expressed frustration, with some claiming they used multiple devices simply to manage family accounts or access tickets on different platforms. The supporters' groups argue that the club's approach creates a perception of "ban first and ask questions later". The Fans' Forum has called on United to pause further suspensions and halt any cancellations while meaningful discussions take place.
Reasons given by fans for using multiple devices include: sharing accounts across generations, using work and personal devices, and accessing tickets for elderly relatives. These explanations highlight the lack of clear communication from the club regarding acceptable account behavior.
