This pause, confirmed by a homeland security source, aims to review procedures and implement new training for officers. The incidents have sparked renewed calls for accountability in immigration enforcement.
What Triggered the ICE Vehicle Stop Suspension?
On Monday morning, 26-year-old Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was shot and killed by an ICE official in Maine. This occurred less than a week after Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was fatally shot by an ICE officer in Houston, Texas, while on his way to work.
