Laura Loomer's sudden about-face on Ukraine has sent shockwaves through the political world. The rightwing commentator, known for her hardline Maga stance, spent days in Kyiv and admitted she had fallen for Russian propaganda. This conversion is significant because her social media posts often shape policy in the second Trump administration.
Loomer, who has never held a government position, met privately with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday. Before the meeting, she shared her first experience of an air raid, writing: "This is everyday for every Ukrainian." She added, "I have been an asshole for minimizing the struggle of Ukrainians."

The Evolution of Loomer's Ukraine Stance
For years, Loomer echoed Kremlin talking points to her 2 million followers, calling Ukraine a "country full of Nazi sympathizers." But her recent posts reveal a dramatic shift. She admitted, "We have been so propagandized by Russia and we don't even realize it."
This change matters because Loomer previously pushed for ideological purges of national security officials in the Trump administration. Her influence made her seem like Trump's de facto national security adviser, though her current White House pull is uncertain.

| "I don't care about Ukraine" | "That wasn't very nice of me" |
