The Odyssey at BFI Imax has drawn die-hard Christopher Nolan fans from across the globe, including 22-year-old Christian Campbell who flew from Atlanta to London for the midnight premiere. This epic film, shot entirely on Imax 1570 cameras, is a cinematic milestone that blends ancient myth with modern technology.
Why Fans Travel for Nolan's The Odyssey
The BFI Imax in south London is one of the few venues worldwide showing The Odyssey in Imax 1570, the highest-resolution film format. Each camera weighs 180kg, and Nolan developed a soundproofing 'blimp' to capture dialogue for the first time on these heavy-duty cameras. The film’s $250m budget reflects its ambition, with box office projections of $80m-$100m in its opening North American weekend.

Campbell, a film graduate and aspiring editor, bought his ticket a year in advance after failing to secure one in New York or Georgia. 'I was like, the third best option is London,' he says. This was his first trip outside the US, turning the Nolan pilgrimage into a holiday with his aunt Donna.
