Thousands of Americans are expected to protest this weekend against ICE violence, voter suppression, and datacenter construction, issues that are shaping the midterm elections. The protests, spanning both urban and rural areas, reflect growing national discontent over federal immigration enforcement, voting rights, and tech expansion.
ICE Out National Day of Action
Over 70 ICE Out rallies are planned for July 18 as part of a National Day of Action demanding justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Joan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, who were fatally shot by ICE agents. These killings mark the 11th fatal shooting by federal immigration officials since Trump’s second term began.

Coalitions like the Answer Coalition and 50501 are sponsoring the events. “We need to stop ICE terror and abolish ICE,” said Hunter Dunn, national press coordinator for 50501. Organizers also demand the arrest of responsible officers.
Voter Suppression Concerns
Protesters are also rallying against voter suppression laws that critics say disproportionately affect minority communities. With midterm elections approaching, activists argue that restrictive voting measures undermine democracy.
Datacenter Protests by Conservatives
In a surprising twist, Saturday’s protests against datacenters are organized by conservatives opposing big AI expansion. These demonstrations highlight bipartisan concerns over environmental impact and land use.
