100,000 Sign Complaint Against FIFA President Gianni Infantino 2026

The Gianni Infantino complaint has surged past 100,000 signatures, as global football fans demand accountability for the FIFA president's alleged misconduct. This unprecedented petition, organized by the Reboot FIFA campaign, accuses Infantino of abusing power and violating political neutrality through interactions with Donald Trump.

Why the Complaint Against Gianni Infantino Gained Momentum

The Reboot FIFA campaign launched before the World Cup with a clear mission: to deliver the biggest complaint FIFA has ever received. The original grievance, filed in December, focused on Infantino's meetings with Trump, which critics argue compromised FIFA's independence. The campaign has now expanded to include the controversial overturning of Folarin Balogun's red card and the failed FIFA Forward Enterprise scheme.

Fair Square, the advocacy group behind Reboot FIFA, submitted the updated complaint to FIFA's ethics committee on Tuesday. In their supporting letter, they emphasize that the ethics committee must act visibly to uphold football's integrity. The sheer volume of signatures—exceeding 100,000—signals mounting public concern that cannot be ignored.

Key Allegations in the Infantino Ethics Complaint

• Abuse of power through political interactions with foreign leaders.
• Violation of political neutrality, compromising FIFA's independence.
• Breach of loyalty to football's governing principles.
• Overturning of competitive decisions, such as Balogun's red card.
• Mismanagement of the FIFA Forward Enterprise scheme.

Support from Norwegian Federation and European Politicians

The original complaint failed to elicit a response from the ethics committee, but it has since gained influential backing. The Norwegian football federation and 50 European parliamentarians have endorsed the call for accountability. This institutional support adds weight to the grassroots petition, creating pressure for a formal investigation.

Football governance experts note that FIFA's ethics committee has faced criticism for its lack of transparency. The Reboot FIFA campaign argues that without independent oversight, corruption and bias can flourish. The complaint seeks to trigger a thorough review of Infantino's conduct, potentially setting a precedent for future accountability.

What Happens Next in the Infantino Investigation?

The ethics committee must now decide whether to open a formal investigation. Fair Square's letter urges them to act swiftly, warning that inaction would erode public trust. If the committee declines, the campaign may escalate to other judicial bodies or push for external oversight.

For football fans, this complaint represents a rare opportunity to influence governance. The 100,000 signatures demonstrate that supporters are watching closely. Whether the committee responds remains uncertain, but the pressure is undeniable.
