Manchester City transfer news is heating up with a shock move for Alexis Mac Allister. The Premier League champions are reportedly preparing a bid for the Liverpool midfielder as they look to reinforce their squad. With Rodri's departure looming and a midfield crisis exposed in the Community Shield, City are desperate for new blood.
Why Manchester City Need Alexis Mac Allister
The Community Shield loss to Arsenal highlighted a glaring issue: Manchester City's midfield looked disjointed and vulnerable. Enzo Maresca's side struggled to control the game, and the absence of a natural defensive midfielder was painfully obvious. Rodri's impending exit has only amplified the urgency, and Mac Allister's arrival could be the perfect solution.

Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool from Brighton in 2023, has proven himself as one of the Premier League's most versatile midfielders. His ability to break up play, distribute under pressure, and contribute goals makes him an ideal fit for City's system. However, Liverpool are unlikely to let him go without a fight, and any deal would likely exceed £100 million.
Comparing Mac Allister to Current Manchester City Midfielders
To understand the potential impact, let's compare Mac Allister's stats with City's current options:
| Player | Goals (24/25) | Assists | Pass Accuracy | Tackles per Game |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alexis Mac Allister | 8 | 7 | 89% | 2.1 |
| Kevin De Bruyne | 6 | 12 | 85% | 0.8 |
| Bernardo Silva | 4 | 5 | 90% | 1.5 |
| Mateo Kovacic | 2 | 3 | 88% | 1.9 |
Mac Allister offers a rare blend of defensive solidity and attacking creativity. His tackles per game are significantly higher than De Bruyne's, while his goal contribution is on par with the league's best. This makes him a game-changing addition for Manchester City.
Other Transfer Rumors: Manchester United, Leeds, and West Ham
Manchester United Target Ibrahim Mbaye
Manchester United have held talks over signing PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye. The 19-year-old was left out of the squad for the French Super Cup, fueling speculation of a move. United are looking to add pace and flair to their attack, and Mbaye fits the profile.
Leeds United's Defensive Overhaul
Leeds are set to bring in Nico Elvedi from Borussia Mönchengladbach, while Sebastiaan Bornauw will head to Hamburg on loan. Goalkeeper Lucas Perri has also agreed to join Torino on an initial loan with an option to buy. These moves signal a clear strategy to rebuild the squad for a promotion push.
West Ham's Striker Search
West Ham are struggling to find a striker after seeing a bid for Troy Parrott rejected. AZ Alkmaar want £21m for the Republic of Ireland international, so Nuno Espírito Santo has turned to Joel Piroe of Leeds. The Hammers were blunt in front of goal against Burnley, and they may need to pay up to secure a proven scorer.
