Six promoted teams are set to make their mark across Europe's top leagues this season, bringing fresh narratives and renewed ambition. From historic clubs returning to the big stage to small-town overachievers, these squads promise excitement and unpredictability. Here's a closer look at the most intriguing promoted sides to watch in 2025-26.

Deportivo La Coruña: A Historic Return to La Liga

Deportivo La Coruña are back in Spain's top flight after a seven-year absence. The Galician club, once part of the Spanish elite, have clawed their way up from the regional third tier to earn automatic promotion last season. With signings like Leo Román and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, they aim to solidify their place among the established order.

Their journey is a testament to resilience, and fans are eager to see if the club can recapture the magic of their 1999 title-winning campaign. The upcoming season will test their squad depth and tactical adaptability against stronger opponents.

Racing Santander and Málaga: Other La Liga Returnees

Racing Santander, champions of the Segunda, are back after 15 years, while Málaga return after a brief stint in the third tier. Both clubs bring passionate fanbases and a hunger to prove they belong at the highest level. Their direct style and defensive organization could surprise many.

Elversberg: Small Town, Big Dreams in the Bundesliga

Elversberg, a club from a town of just 14,000 people, have achieved a remarkable rise from regional leagues to the Bundesliga. Under new coach Vincent Wagner, they will rely on team spirit and tactical discipline to compete against financial giants. Their stadium expansion to meet capacity requirements shows their commitment to top-flight football.

Despite losing coach Horst Steffen to Werder Bremen, Elversberg's continuity and smart recruitment have kept them competitive. Their underdog story is one of the most compelling in German football this season.

Other Promoted Sides Across Europe

Beyond Spain and Germany, other promoted teams are generating buzz. In Italy, Serie B winners Sassuolo are back after a brief relegation, aiming to re-establish themselves as a mid-table force.
