Israel has set a national election date for 27 October 2025, marking the first opportunity for voters to judge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his coalition since the Hamas-led attacks of 7 October 2023. The Knesset will dissolve on Friday, triggering a campaign that will shape the country's political future.

Netanyahu, 76, faces both political and personal challenges. He is currently on trial for corruption, though former President Donald Trump has called for a pre-emptive pardon. Polls suggest voters may oust him, but Netanyahu has a long history of defying expectations.
