Government Response and Deployments
The interior ministry announced the deployment of 60 armed forces personnel and 30 additional Guardia Civil officers to reinforce security in Ceuta. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez pledged an "immediate response," emphasizing cooperation with Moroccan and international authorities.
However, the government rejected calls for a national emergency declaration, stating that such measures are reserved for natural disasters or nuclear threats, not migration issues. This legal stance has sparked debate over how to handle future influxes.
