Enzo Maresca faces the monumental challenge of succeeding Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. In his first press conference as manager, the Italian addressed the daunting task ahead, drawing comparisons to the transitions after Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and Arsène Wenger at Arsenal.
The Legacy of Pep Guardiola
Guardiola's decade at City yielded 20 trophies, including multiple Premier League titles and a Champions League. Maresca acknowledged the difficulty: “The history of the manager with many years in the same club always struggled a little bit. After Sir Alex, after Arsène.” His calm demeanor and reference to the club's stability under three managers in 17 years showed he understands the need for patience.
