Arrival at Barajas Airport
La Roja touched down at Madrid's Barajas airport at 2:30pm local time, where captain Rodri waved the trophy aloft as he emerged from the plane, his medal from the previous night around his neck. Hundreds of delighted fans waited in terminal four for a glimpse of the freshly minted champions.
Royal Reception at Zarzuela Palace
The team's first stop was an audience with King Felipe, Queen Letizia, and their daughters at the Zarzuela palace. King Felipe paid tribute to their talent and determination, calling it an "epic triumph" and praising their fortitude through criticism and fatigue.
Prime Minister's Tribute
The next meeting was at the Moncloa palace with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who offered the players and technical staff massive thanks for the game, effort, and victory. Rodri said that "winning for your country is the most beautiful thing there is" and reflected on how this generation grew up watching icons like Casillas and Iniesta lift the cup in 2010.
