Recent data reveals that most people arrested during the Henry Nowak protests had previously been reported for domestic abuse, according to police records. The protests erupted after the sentencing of Vickrum Digwa, who was jailed for life for stabbing the 18-year-old outside a park in Southampton.
Domestic Abuse Among Protest Arrestees
Hampshire police released figures under FOI laws showing that 22 out of 37 detainees (59%) had been implicated in intimate partner violence. This statistic challenges narratives of the unrest being solely about police bias.
