Corrections and Clarifications: Editorial Accuracy Updates 2026

Corrections and clarifications are essential for maintaining editorial accuracy and trust with readers. This article highlights recent corrections, including a misreported data breach detail and a maternity leave date error, and explains how to request further amendments.

Recent Corrections in Our Reporting

We strive for precision in every story. In a recent article about hackers stealing personal details from DfE and police databases, we incorrectly stated that “addresses” were taken; the correct term is email addresses. This correction ensures readers have accurate information about the scope of the breach.

Another correction involves Yvette Cooper MP’s maternity leave. Our print edition incorrectly stated she took leave in the “early 90s”; in fact, she took maternity leave as a junior health minister in 2001. This error was isolated to print and has been fixed online.

Other Amended Articles

Beyond these, we have updated several other pieces to improve accuracy. These include:

• How Democrats’ datacenter push in swing states is risking their midterm hopes
• Man who stabbed Salman Rushdie in 2022 convicted of federal terrorism charges
• ‘Our new champion’: Philippines swept up in tennis fever after Alex Eala’s historic win
• New Zealand capital delights in rare snowfall as southern city residents ski down world’s steepest street
• Rod Liddle obituary

Each amendment is reviewed by our editorial team to ensure clarity and factual correctness.
