Jon Ossoff Slams Trump as Draft-Dodging Crook President 2026

Jon Ossoff, the Democratic senator from Georgia, has called President Donald Trump a 'draft-dodging, crook president' during a campaign appearance, escalating a public feud that has captured national attention. The remark came as Ossoff defended fellow senator Mark Kelly, a former Navy captain, against Trump's attacks.

Ossoff's Fiery Attack on Trump

Speaking alongside Kelly and his wife, former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Ossoff said, "I don't think anything illustrates the times more aptly than that the draft-dodging, crook president, who has plunged our nation recklessly into a war he knows not how to end or to win, tried to imprison this man, who embodies American heroism." The statement drew immediate viral attention on social media, with many praising Ossoff's sharp rhetoric.

The Context: Mark Kelly and the Troop Video

Kelly and five other Democratic lawmakers were attacked by Trump last year after they released a social media video stating that troops are not required to carry out illegal commands. Trump called for their arrests, accusing them of "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" Ossoff's defense of Kelly highlights the ongoing tension between the administration and military veterans in Congress.

Ossoff's Broader Criticism of Trump's Leadership

On Sunday, during a campaign event in Atlanta, Ossoff also criticized Trump's handling of the US-Israel war on Iran. "While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings," Ossoff said. "He golfs and trades stocks. See, he doesn't want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the amir of Qatar." The reference to Natalie Harp, Trump's executive assistant, has added a personal dimension to the feud.

Reactions from the White House

The White House quickly responded, with Trump calling Ossoff "Pee-wee Herman" and communications director Steven Cheung labeling him "a radical, extremist Dumocrat." These attacks have only intensified the public exchange, drawing more attention to Ossoff's re-election campaign and his potential 2028 presidential bid.
