Spain's World Cup victory was sealed in extra time as manager Luis de la Fuente celebrated what he called a date with destiny. The reigning champions overcame a gritty Argentina side reduced to ten men, with substitute Ferran Torres scoring the decisive goal.
Match Overview: Spain vs Argentina
Spain dominated possession but found Argentina's defense stubborn. Nico Williams had a goal disallowed in the first half of extra time, while Enzo Fernández became the sixth player sent off in a World Cup final after a second yellow card in the 93rd minute. Argentina pushed for an equalizer but Lionel Messi could not inspire a comeback, ending his final World Cup without adding to his eight goals.
