Donald Trump's speech at the White House correspondents' dinner devolved into a bitter series of complaints and nasty attacks on opponents, marking a sharp departure from the event's traditional lighthearted tone. The president began with some light banter but quickly turned to mockery of Democrats and journalists, leaving many in the room uncomfortable.
Key Moments from Trump's Speech
During the more-than-hour-long address, Trump initially played the good sport by shaking hands with White House correspondents who won awards for their tough coverage. However, he later singled out two reporters—Kaitlan Collins of CNN and Josh Dawsey of the Wall Street Journal—criticizing their work directly from the stage. This shift from congratulatory to combative highlighted the deeply partisan nature of the evening.
