Indian celebrities are facing fierce criticism for their silence amid the massive Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests sweeping the nation. While hundreds of thousands of young Indians demand accountability over exam paper leaks, Bollywood stars and sports icons have remained conspicuously quiet, sparking outrage among their fanbase.
Why Are Indian Celebrities Being Criticized?
Protesters argue that the celebrities who built their fame and fortune on public support are now ignoring their most devoted fans. Many traveled thousands of kilometers to join the sit-in protest in Delhi, enduring extreme weather and police brutality, yet saw no moral support from the stars they helped make wealthy.

Vijay Rai, a 24-year-old protester from Chennai, said: "We are the ones who made them famous and wealthy by turning up and paying for their films and matches. Now when it’s our turn for a little help, we get nothing."

Police Brutality Sparks Further Anger
On Monday, peaceful student protesters were met with batons, teargas, and reportedly pellet guns. Despite this, no Bollywood star or celebrity offered a word of condolence or support. Seema, a domestic worker in Delhi, said: "Just a few words on social media to express their moral support for our demands would have been welcome."
