This Rainbow Origami is very beautiful to make, I enjoy spending my free time folding papers and I really enjoyed creating this Vase.
I hope you like it and have hours of fun doing it like I did.
This one is waterproof so you can use real flowers with it.
To make this waterproof Rainbow Origami Vase you will need:
- 238 RED papers (7 x 3.5 cm)
- 616 ORANGE papers (7 x 3.5 cm)
- 546 YELLOW papers (7 x 3.5 cm)
- 567 GREEN papers (7 x 3.5 cm)
- 602 BLUE papers (7 x 3.5 cm)
- 245 INDIGO papers (7 x 3.5 cm)
- 175 VIOLET papers (7 x 3.5 cm)
- Precatalyzed polyester resin
- Catalyst
Step 1: Creating the Pattern

To create the pattern that would follow in the Vase, I began to draw on papers what I imagined and then selected the one I liked the most. I studied the pattern in illustrator and then drew how I should join the documents to get the pattern I wanted (you can find how to join the documents in the attached PDF and I repeated the pattern 7 times on the right and ended up where I started, thus creating a circle and then the vase.)
Step 2: Folding the papers

Now you need to fold each paper as shown in the image.
(Take your time and be patient… It will take a while to fold 2989 documents)
Step 3: FOLD 2989 PAPERS!

Step 4: Assembling the modules

The module used in this Vase is very common in origami, so learning it and how to assemble it will allow you to create thousands of figures, you can start following the instructions I have made here, but you can also create your own figures.
To assemble them you will place the leg of one in the pocket of another, be sure to keep them alternating so that each new module you put in rests on two different modules. These modules are like the LEGO of origami.
In the attached images you will find the process of making the Vase. If it's too difficult to hold the shape, you can add some glue to keep the pieces together.
Step 5: Resin

Now it's time to cover it with resin to make it waterproof.
What I did was mix the resin with its catalyst (as the instructions said) and cover the Vase with it, starting from the inside and to make sure I covered everything, I repeated the process 2 more times. (Remember to do it outside)
Then let dry for 24 hours.
Step 6: Testing

I added water to the top to see if it would work and left it like that, it worked perfectly.
Now it's time to add some beautiful flowers.
Step 7: In context

Greetings!
