A tool storage and charging wall is a great DIY job you can do to keep your work tools in order.
I wanted to create an organized wall system for my various cordless power tools and a way to charge and store them.
The result? Deep shelves in the lower unit, a "counter", a cubby hole section, pistol grips and a wooden wall that can be used to hold different tools.
To complete the process of this build, be sure to watch the video that describes the general steps.
Steps to make a tool storage and electrical charging wall:
#1: Cut the pieces to size

- I started by cutting the plywood to size. For this build I am using 3/4 inch plywood for all sections.
- If you want more precise indications of the process. Then you can download this free plan from this build.
- I simply used a circular saw and a miter saw for all my cuts, so it is possible to build this tool wall with limited tools.
#2: Assemble the Base

- First of all, the base. I started by creating a basic box, using screws to assemble.
- Then I added a nailing strip and attached the middle shelf placing the divider on the sides while screwing it in. Finally, I placed the divider in the center. For the top section, I used pocket holes since I couldn't reach it from the bottom.
- Once the base was assembled, I attached the unit to the wall by screwing through the nailing strip into the studs. I placed the unit on the foundation in my garage, so it is a little off the ground.
#3: Unions

- Once the base unit was built, I assembled the parts for the cubicle section, again using screws for assembly.
- The top shelf is a little wider than the remaining cubbies, so it can be used as a deeper shelf.
#4: Attach the backup

- To secure the cubicle unit to the wall, I first secured the rear middle section to the sides of the cubicles with pocket screws.
- The back then functioned as a large nailing strip that I tied to the wall at the studs.
#5: Pistol Grips

- I painted the base and top unit, and moved on to create the pistol grips.
- I wanted this unit to be able to perform a variety of exercises, as well as a nail gun, glue gun, and other similar tools.
- I attached pieces of plywood with glue and then a nail gun, in total I made 6 sections of plywood, which I attached to a board to create the gun grips.
- Once all the pieces were together, I went back and secured everything with screws.
#6: Rear wall

- To create more contrast and visual interest, I decided to cut some thin strips of wood to nail to the back of the wall.
- I had originally stained the plywood, but I didn't think it looked that good, so I nailed the wood strips instead, which came out pretty clean.
#7: Additional Storage and Finishing Touches

- To create additional storage space, I added some plastic hooks to the sides of the unit, so I can add hooks to store extension cords, compressor hoses, etc.
- I added a lighting strip around the entire unit for more light and then attached Battery Chargers to the sides before adding an assortment of tools.
