How to Make Wooden Balls, the truth is that I never needed to make wooden balls for any project, but one day I noticed some machines to make wooden spheres and beads.

These machines are similar to the union of a drill press and a lathe, so I decided to move the drill press table aside and put my drill press under the chuck.

All I needed was a wood core bit and a good piece of wood.

Then you have to adjust the lathe under the crown bit so that the centering bit, which is inside the crown bit, is aligned with the axis of rotation of the pitch.

And after the alignment is done I have to remove that centering bit and leave only the crown bit.

If I forget to remove the centering bit, I cannot turn the wood ball.

The lathe spins the wood, and by rotating the hole saw bit and lowering it onto that wood, the wooden ball is carved.

You could sand the ball a little before removing it from the lathe.

Although if I don't cut it completely before sanding it I won't get a perfect wooden sphere.

Still, I'm sure I can leave about half a centimeter uncut on each side so I can sand the wooden ball while it's still on the lathe.

And then I would have to remove the ball by cutting that half centimeter with a saw, since if I use the crown bit again the sanding will be ruined.

The truth is that I don't know what to use these simple wooden spheres for, but it occurs to me that they could be used for a simple game of bowling.

Or maybe we can use them as petanque balls, although they are light.

Or you could also make them much smaller for making beads.
