You will need these materials:

• Old pallets
• Safety equipment
• Wooden bolts or screws
• Wood glue
• Wood stain and sealer
• 4 sets of grade hinges
• 4 exterior grade handles

And these tools:

• Pallet Breaker
• Reciprocating saw
• Sander
• Punch
• Tape measure
• Wooden clamps

Create a basic box, inserting the short sides as shown above. You can use pocket holes or pre-drill the long sides and use 1 1/4" screws.

Screw two planks on each side, countersinking the screws through the top. Place boards 1/2" apart

Create what will become the seat. Screw the 1 x 4 boards (1/2" apart) into the 2 x 4 armrests (d). Make sure the 2x4s are at least 1" in from the edge to allow them to fold into the box nicely.

I have no idea how to add hinges to the sketch, but attach the seat you made in step 3 to the board you screwed on in step 2. I found it easier to place the hinge on the seat (on the opposite side of the armrest) and THEN attach it to the screwed board. Be sure to space them 1/2" apart.

Attach your second set of hinges to the back of the seat, on the opposite side of the 2x4s, and then place it on the seat (easy to do with the seat "up"). Be sure to separate 1/2" apart.
