Today we will show you some plans to build a bed frame, which you can download and make in the comfort of your home.
I decided on a modern queen size bed frame with a 4'x8' sheet of plywood, plus a few cheap strips to support the box springs.
I used a sheet of walnut plywood, which is a little more expensive, but any 4'x8' sheet will do.
This is a simple, one-day project, so get building!
Plans to build a queen wooden bed frame

Materials:
- (1) 3/4" thick, full sheet, plywood
- (13) 1×4, 61", Board
- (2) 2×2, 80", Board
- (150) 3/4" thick, 150 feet, edge banding
- (100) 1 1/4" pocket hole screws
- (3) Lacquer spray can
-
(1) 220 grit sandpaper sheet.
Procedure:

Step 1 Instructions: Break Down the Plywood
I used the Kreg Accu-Cut and a circular saw to split the 4′ x 8′ sheet of plywood into three more manageable pieces.
I'm not a fan of the circular saw, but this is a tool that makes it easy to cut nice clean lines.

Instructions for step 2: Prepare the individual pieces
Now that you have small pieces of plywood, you should use a table saw to make quick, repeatable cuts at consistent points.
Because this bed is primarily made of geometric strips, making them look straight and parallel is visually important.
If you don't have a table saw, the Kreg Accu-Cut will work just fine! Now that you have the individual pieces, go ahead and drill the pocket holes.
Use the Kreg K5 Pocket Hole Jig to drill the holes marked in yellow on the diagram.
Once all the pieces are cut and drilled, you can identify the layers of plywood and give the piece a clean look.
Now apply two coats of spray lacquer and assemble the components.

Step 3 Instructions: Build the Bed Frame
Attach the 2 long rails to the short running board rail with the 1 1/4" pocket screws.
Add the 2x2 board supports to the inside of the bed frame, drilling some of them.
Use 1 1/4" pocket holes to attach the slat support along the bottom edge of the long lengths.
Place the mattress slat with the pocket holes on the open end of the bed frame, vertically on top of the board support.
Using 1 1/4″ pocket screws, secure this piece to the inside of the long lengths along the back edge.

Step 4 Instructions: Attach the Legs
The cones on the legs are 5 1/2" down the side and 2" from the bottom, connect the lines and cut.
Take the 4" leg piece with the pocket holes and place it on the longer edge of the 4 3/4" piece.
Drive in 4, 1 1/4" pocket screws to make a mounting assembly.90 degree leg.
Will make two of these.
From the inside of the bed frame, drive a few screws through the rails and into the leg assemblies securing them flush with the top rails of the bed frame.
Do the same with the two wider leg pieces remaining on the back of the bed frame.
Be sure to extend them 3/4" past the end of the long rails (we'll see why later).

Step 5 Instructions: Build the Header
Lay the headboard rails on the floor and arrange them in the pattern shown, and use a piece of 3/4" plywood as a spacer.
Make sure the headboard rail with the pocket holes is at the top.
Place one of the upright supports (Tapered leg facing inward) on the outside edge of the headboard pieces and drive in some 1 1/4" pocket screws. Measure 25 1/2" from the inside edge of the upright and attach the center support.
Third, attach the remaining upright to the other edge. Lastly, place the 2 1/2" header cap on top of the assembly and secure with 1 1/4" pocket screws.

Step 6 Instructions: Attach Headboard to Frame
Slide the headboard to the back of the bed frame, it should fit inside the two back legs.
Secure the two external upright supports to the legs with 4 pocket holes of 1 1/4" each.
For added stability, drive a few more 1 1/4″ pocket screws from the back of the uprights into the bed frame.

Step 7 Instructions: Add Mattress Slats
Score 12 1/4" pocket screws per side. Now drop the slatted base and mattress, and that's it!

Step 7 instructions: finished projects
Remember that these plans to build a bed framehave a specific measurement, if your bed has other measurements it would be best to adapt it to the measurements that your bed needs.
