Sam Neill's cause of death has been confirmed as pneumonia, his longtime representative Philip Grenz revealed, addressing inaccuracies in media reports after the actor's sudden and unexpected death on Monday. Neill, known for his roles in Jurassic Park and The Piano, had previously battled stage three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, before being declared cancer-free in April. This update brings clarity to fans and the public following widespread speculation.
Sam Neill's Health Journey and Final Days
Neill was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in 2022, a rare and aggressive blood cancer. He underwent years of immunotherapy, a treatment that harnesses the immune system to fight cancer cells. In April, he announced he was cancer-free, but complications from pneumonia ultimately led to his death. His representative emphasized that the cause was pneumonia, not a recurrence of cancer, to correct false narratives.
