The International Criminal Court (ICC) faces a crisis as an ICC staffer speaks publicly about alleged sexual abuse by chief prosecutor Karim Khan, a prominent British lawyer. In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, a woman identified as Sarah detailed her accusations against Khan, who has denied all claims. These allegations have engulfed the court for over two years and now threaten Khan’s tenure as the world’s top war crimes prosecutor.
Allegations of Sexual Abuse by Karim Khan
Sarah, a lawyer who worked directly for Khan, described his behavior as “an escalation of attempts” that slowly crossed professional boundaries. She alleged that during an official visit to Colombia, Khan entered her hotel room and groped her while she pretended to be asleep. A second woman, using the pseudonym Patricia, also came forward, claiming Khan groped and harassed her repeatedly while she worked as an intern at his house in 2009.

Karim Khan has consistently denied these allegations through his lawyer, Sareta Ashraph, who stated that “the complete evidential picture paints a far different picture.” The claims have sparked intense scrutiny of the ICC’s internal culture and its handling of misconduct complaints.
