Race leader Tadej Pogacar revealed he nearly crashed after running over a loose bottle with his front wheel. “I completely shat my pants there. Luckily, I managed to keep my handlebars upright,” he said. Despite the scare, Pogacar maintained his overall lead, emphasizing the need for constant focus even on seemingly straightforward stages.

Julian Alaphilippe, the former world road race champion, was part of the day's four-man breakaway. However, he was dropped on the Côte-de-Chevannes, 38 km from the finish. At 34, this may prove to be his final Tour de France appearance, though his legacy as a national hero remains strong.
