A basket for storing laundry to wash or iron is always handy, even better if you can move it easily and make it disappear when not in use. This DIY laundry cart is mounted on wheels and has a foldable frame. The coloring and materials are natural, and the bag is removable and washable. If you want to eliminate metal entirely, even from the bag, replace the eyelets with sewn buttonholes. We make the bag with straight seams using sturdy canvas or other coarse fabrics.

Alternatively, we can recycle a ready-made bag, possibly adding eyelets that we apply with an eyelet pliers equipped with a punch tip, which pierces the fabric directly. The same model of bag-holder frame, proportionally reduced in size, can be proposed as a magazine rack or a storage organizer for the home.

How to Build It
Time required: 2 hours
Making the Legs
Start by making the legs of the support: with the back saw, make a 60° cut on the strips after taking measurements with the help of a protractor. Hold the pieces steady with a clamp. For precision cutting, a quality saw from our home improvement collection makes all the difference.
Drilling the Legs
Make the large holes in the legs for the dowel that will join them, making the structure rigid and sturdy. The holes should be made with a drill press using a 20 mm diameter bit.
Inserting the Wooden Peg
With a 6 mm bit, on which we have inserted the depth limiter, drill the strips in correspondence with the dowels to insert the wooden peg that acts as a stop for the dowels themselves.
Drilling the Shaped Stop Block
The shaped opening stop block must be drilled for the insertion of the pegs. For greater precision, hold it in position and drill it simultaneously with the strip. A reliable drill from our home improvement range will ensure accuracy.
Inserting the Wheels
The wheel is inserted onto the hub on which we have previously made a 6 mm hole. Insert the locking pin and fit the O-ring onto the wheel profile as a "tread".
Attaching the Fabric
Apply the eyelets with the eyelet pliers, then thread the nylon rope through them to secure the bag to the frame. If you're looking for a ready-made solution, consider our selection of storage benches for additional laundry room organization.
Tips for Customizing Your Laundry Cart
- Choose a fabric that matches your decor – canvas, linen, or even upcycled materials work great.
- Paint the wooden frame with a non-toxic stain or paint for a pop of color.
- Add a liner inside the bag for extra durability and easy cleaning.
- Use larger wheels if you plan to move the cart over carpets or uneven floors.
Complete your laundry room setup with durable and stylish rugs that can handle high-traffic areas.
