Google and Samsung announced Smart Glasses with artificial intelligence 2026

It has been known for some time that Samsung is designing new Smart Glasses with artificial intelligence, in collaboration with Google. The manufacturing and design part of the frame will be handled by Gentle Monster and Marby Parker, as announced a while ago at Google I/O 2026. Although the full announcement of the glasses will take place at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, Google gave us a first announcement of the glasses, along with Android XR, the operating system that the new wearables will run.

According to Google and Samsung, Smart Glasses with artificial intelligence, through Android XR, will offer a completely hands-free experience, through Gemini and voice commands. Users will be able to activate navigation with voice instructions, chat with Gemini to get information and of course analyze what the eyeball's camera sees.

In the presentation we saw the ability to place orders through Gemini, get a summary of our messages, put something in our calendar and a lot more.

What is interesting is the ability of Android XR to translate our conversations in real time, while the camera will see signs and texts, which it will translate for us when we ask. Of course the camera will take photos and videos.

The functions are very reminiscent of Ray-Ban Meta, with the difference that here we have Gemini for voice assistant and not Meta AI. Like all glasses of this type, it will rely on communication with our phone via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to function.

Unfortunately, we did not get any information about the hardware of the glasses and for that we will have to wait for Galaxy Unpacked, where Samsung will make the announcement. However, in the published images, we see a single camera with an LED so that those around us know that we are taking photos and videos.

The new glasses will go on sale in the fall with their price still unknown. What will be interesting will be the cooperation of the glasses with other applications. For example, Ray-Ban Meta can be used in all Meta applications such as WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram, which makes them a good companion for our video calls and file sharing on social media.

However, owning a pair of Ray-Ban Meta, the more unisex take on Samsung, from Warby Parker, looks a lot like Ray-Ban, while the glasses from Gentle Monster are feminine. Ray-Ban's designs are more unisex and that's probably a plus.
