Leroy Merlin Double Socket: Add Outlets Without Rewiring for Under €10 2026

Leroy Merlin has launched a simple solution to increase the number of sockets in your living room or bedroom without any construction work: the Legrand Niloé Step double socket, available for just €9.99. This clever device replaces a single socket with a double one, giving you two outlets in the same space.

Many homes suffer from a lack of electrical outlets, leading to tangled extension cords and overloaded power strips. This product offers a neat, permanent fix that is easy to install and blends seamlessly with your wall.

What Is the Legrand Niloé Step Double Socket?

The Legrand Niloé Step is a double socket that fits into the same wall box as a single socket. It features a double head with grounding, a child safety system, and a smooth white plastic casing that won't stand out. Its dimensions are 12 x 18 x 6 cm, and it supports up to 16 amps.

Installation is straightforward and requires minimal tools, making it a great DIY project for homeowners. You simply remove the existing socket and wire the new double socket in its place.

Why You Might Need Extra Sockets

Modern living rooms and bedrooms often have more electronic devices than outlets. Charging phones, plugging in lamps, TVs, and other gadgets can quickly overwhelm a single socket. Power strips are a common solution, but they can be unsightly and pose tripping hazards.

The Legrand Niloé Step eliminates the need for a power strip by providing two grounded outlets directly on the wall. It's a cleaner, safer alternative that integrates seamlessly into your home.

Key Features and Benefits

• Easy installation: Replaces a single socket without additional wiring.
• Child safety: Built-in shutters prevent foreign objects from being inserted.
• Grounded connection: Ensures safety for appliances requiring earth.
• Compact design: White finish blends with most décors.
• Affordable: At €9.99, it's a cost-effective upgrade.

Comparison with Other Solutions

When it comes to adding outlets, you have several options. The Legrand Niloé Step is a direct replacement, while power strips and multi-plug adapters are temporary fixes. Here's how they compare:

As shown, the Legrand Niloé Step offers a permanent, safe, and aesthetically pleasing solution at a very low price. The Lencent adapter is a good alternative if you need USB ports, but it protrudes from the wall.

Installation Tips

Before starting, turn off the power to the circuit at the breaker box. Remove the existing socket cover and disconnect the wires. Connect the wires to the corresponding terminals on the new double socket, secure it to the wall box, and attach the cover plate. If you're not comfortable working with electricity, hire a qualified electrician.

The Legrand Niloé Step is designed for standard wall boxes, so it should fit most installations. The package includes instructions, but if in doubt, consult a professional.
