Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Mix the Cement
In a container, mix the white cement with water until it reaches a pasty, but not too runny, consistency. This will form the base that holds your bamboo canes securely.
Step 2: Prepare the Pot
Place a layer of gravel at the bottom of your pot for drainage and stability. Then, pour the cement mixture on top, ensuring it's at least 10 cm thick. For more outdoor project inspiration, check out our garden supplies.
Step 3: Smooth the Surface
Use your trowel to roughly level the top of the cement. This creates a clean base for inserting the bamboo.
Step 4: Insert the Bamboo Canes
Push the bamboo canes into the cement until they reach the gravel layer. Arrange them slightly splayed outward to leave more room for hanging items. This design works beautifully with a wall decor piece nearby for added style.
Step 5: Create a Sea Foam Effect
Lightly texture the cement surface with your trowel to mimic sea foam, being careful not to disturb the bamboo. This gives your coat rack a natural, ocean-inspired look.
Step 6: Add the Shells
Gently press shells into the surface in a random pattern, as if they are floating among the bamboo. For a cohesive look, pair this with outdoor decor items that echo the coastal theme.
Tips for Customizing Your Coat Rack
- Use different shell shapes and sizes for visual interest.
- Paint the bamboo canes with a sealant for durability.
- Add hooks to the canes for extra hanging space.
Enhance your entryway with a mirror or rug from our collections to complete the look.
