Richard Hammond Fined for Speeding in Bentley and Porsche 2026

Richard Hammond, the former Top Gear host, has been fined £999 for speeding in his Porsche and Bentley. The 56-year-old was caught breaking the speed limit twice within three weeks, highlighting that even celebrities are not above the law. His case serves as a reminder of the consequences of speeding, regardless of status.

Details of the Speeding Offenses

Hammond was first caught on 2 December last year while driving his Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo. He was clocked at 68mph in a 50mph zone on the A40 in Pencraig, Herefordshire. Just 20 days later, on 22 December, he was caught again, this time in his Bentley Continental GT, driving at 82mph in a 70mph limit on the A50 Rudhall overbridge.

West Mercia police brought two prosecutions against Hammond, using speed camera images as evidence. He pleaded guilty through his lawyers to both charges at Telford magistrates court. The court handed him seven penalty points on his licence and ordered him to pay a total of £1,771, comprising two fines of £333 and £666, plus £240 in costs and £532 in victim surcharges.

How the Police Tracked Him Down

Initially, speeding tickets were sent to a Grade II*-listed Herefordshire castle Hammond bought in 2012 and a £1m farm estate near Hereford. However, the letters were returned marked “addressee gone away.” Police eventually tracked him down to his £2m mansion near Abergavenny in Monmouthshire, where it was noted that more than 30 vehicles are registered.
