The Dink: A Comedy of Second Chances
In Josh Greenbaum's amiable comedy, Dusty "the Hammer" Boyd (Jake Johnson) is a tennis prodigy who failed to make the grade and now coaches kids at his father's country club. His dad Chuck (Ed Harris) hates pickleball, calling it "the coronavirus of sport," but Dusty's life changes when he meets Candace (Mary Steenburgen). This film explores redemption and new beginnings with humor and heart.
Wicked Little Letters: A Cautionary Tale with Laughs
Set in the 1920s, Thea Sharrock's comedy follows Edith (Olivia Colman), who receives anonymous poison pen letters, and her neighbor Rose (Jessie Buckley), an Irish single mother with a proto-feminist attitude. The film balances vitriolic insults with a deeper message about bullying and repression. Watching Colman and Buckley spar is pure entertainment.
Jurassic Park: A Timeless Classic
The late Sam Neill stars in Steven Spielberg's family sci-fi adventure as a paleontologist invited to an island where dinosaurs are revived through DNA. This crowd-pleaser masterfully balances wonder and jeopardy, making it a must-watch for all ages.
The Pillow Book: Artistic Obsession
Peter Greenaway's film explores themes of art, identity, and desire through a visually stunning narrative. It's a perfect choice for viewers seeking something thought-provoking and unconventional.
