Beatles Abbey Road Biopic Recreates Iconic Album Cover 2026

The upcoming Beatles biopic directed by Sam Mendes has been spotted recreating the iconic Abbey Road album cover, sparking excitement among fans. The four-film project, set for release in April 2028, features Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

Recreating the Legendary Abbey Road Album Cover

The production team filmed the actors walking across the famous zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios in London, exactly as the original cover photo taken in 1969. Social media footage shows the quartet in period-appropriate attire, with Dickinson leading the group, followed by Keoghan, Mescal, and Quinn.

The original album cover was photographed by Iain Macmillan on August 8, 1969, after the band abandoned an initial idea to shoot in Nepal. The album was initially titled "Everest," after a cigarette brand smoked by engineer Geoff Emerick, but the iconic crossing photo became one of the most recognizable images in music history.

Behind the Scenes of the Beatles Biopic

Sam Mendes announced the ambitious project in February 2024, with each film focusing on a different Beatle. The films have the backing of Sony Pictures and the approval of both Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as the estates of John Lennon and George Harrison.

The cast includes Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, and Lucy Boynton as Jane Asher, adding star power to an already impressive ensemble.
