Nancy Guthrie Missing: Family Plea for Info After Ransom Notes 2026

Nancy Guthrie missing case takes a new turn as her family issues a desperate plea for information, six months after the 84-year-old vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home. The case has drawn national attention due to her connection to Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, but no arrests have been made. The release of two purported ransom notes has added a layer of mystery and urgency to the investigation.

Family's Emotional Appeal

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the Guthrie family expressed their ongoing agony, stating, "Six months ago, someone took her out of her bed in the dead of night. We have lived every moment, every breath, and every heartbeat in agony and despair ever since." They described their hearts as "in ruins" but emphasized their determination to stay strong, as their mother taught them.

The family is now begging for anyone with information to come forward, hoping that public pressure might lead to a breakthrough. Their plea is a stark reminder of the emotional toll on families of missing persons, especially when leads are scarce.

Ransom Notes and Investigation

The Pima County Sheriff's Department released two notes received by news outlets shortly after Guthrie's disappearance. The first note claimed she was "safe but scared" and demanded $4 million in Bitcoin for her release. The second note, however, stated that she "perished shortly after she was taken" due to a heart-related issue and that she was "buried in nature now."

Authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of these notes, and the investigation remains active. Two men detained and questioned early in the case have filed a notice of claim against the sheriff and a detective, adding another layer of complexity.
