Old Firm Derby Without Away Fans: A New Era
The SPFL announced this month that away fans will not attend Old Firm derbies in its competitions this season, following fan disorder when the sides met in March's Scottish Cup. Ibrox will be a cauldron of home support only, a decision that has sparked debate among fans and pundits alike.
- No away fans for Old Firm derbies in SPFL competitions this season.
- Celtic changes: Tierney, Carter-Vickers, Nygren, and Durán start.
- Rangers' new boss: Derek McInnes takes charge of his first Old Firm.
- League Cup importance: Both sides eye a morale-boosting trophy.
What a Win Means for Both Clubs
For Rangers, a victory would signal McInnes' arrival as a force and ease pressure after a stuttering start. For Celtic, maintaining dominance over their rivals would reinforce their domestic superiority. The League Cup, won by St Mirren last season, represents a genuine opportunity for silverware.
