The Ukraine war has taken a dramatic turn as thousands protest the dismissal of defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov, exposing deep divisions in President Zelenskyy's leadership. For a second day, Ukrainians gathered outside the presidential office, demanding answers after Fedorov was not reappointed in a surprise government reshuffle. The move has startled senior European officials and raised questions about Kyiv's military strategy against Russia.
Why Fedorov's Dismissal Sparked Protests
Fedorov, known for his tech-driven approach to warfare, had successfully leveraged drone and missile technology to gain advantages against Russian forces. His clash with military chief of staff Oleksandr Syrskyi, an older-school general favoring a war of attrition, was inevitable. Zelenskyy defended his decision, stating he was forced "to choose between sides" when what he wanted most was unity.

Zelenskyy's Rift with Poland
Adding to the crisis, Zelenskyy took steps to repair ties with key ally Poland over his decision to name a Ukrainian army unit after second world war fighters who killed Poles. He pledged to expand investigations into killings by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and open intelligence files. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed readiness for dialogue, noting both unity and divisions.
