Donald Trump will attend the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Thursday. The president's presence at the championship match underscores the intersection of sports and politics on a global stage. Fans and analysts alike are watching how this high-profile attendance will shape the tournament's legacy.
Trump's Role in the World Cup Final
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has stated that Trump will hand the World Cup trophy to the winners at New Jersey New York Stadium. This tradition follows past finals where heads of state participated in the ceremony. For example, the emir of Qatar presented the trophy in 2022, and Vladimir Putin did so in 2018.

Political Implications of Trump's Attendance
Trump's relationship with Infantino has been notable throughout the tournament. He successfully lobbied for a review of USA star Folarin Balogun's red-card suspension, which was reversed. However, the political involvement cast a shadow over the U.S. team, who exited after a flat loss to Belgium.
Since his reelection, Trump has attended several major sporting events, including the Super Bowl, the US Open, and the Ryder Cup. This World Cup final appearance continues his pattern of engaging with high-profile athletic competitions.

|---|---|---|
