Bangkok Bar Fire: 30 Dead as Negligence Investigation Begins 2026

The Bangkok bar fire that claimed 30 lives has sparked a major negligence investigation, as police focus on exit accessibility and electrical failures. The blaze at Rong Beer Na Ladprao pub is the deadliest in the city in 17 years, with victims trapped in windowless bathrooms and blocked exits. This tragedy underscores the critical importance of fire safety compliance in public venues.

What Caused the Bangkok Bar Fire?

Police chief Kitrat Phanphet confirmed negligence as the primary theory, with inquiries into locked or obstructed exits. A table selling candy blocked one rear exit, while shelving narrowed another near the kitchen.

Lessons for Venue Owners and Patrons

This tragedy highlights the need for clear emergency exits, regular fire drills, and electrical maintenance. Venues must ensure all exits are unobstructed and well-lit. Patrons should always identify two escape routes upon entry.
