Chelsea Transfer News: Chalobah Exit, Henderson Signing 2026

Chelsea transfer news is buzzing after the club agreed to sell Trevoh Chalobah to Como and sign Jordan Henderson on a free transfer. These moves highlight the club's strategic shift under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea Sell Trevoh Chalobah to Como

Defender Trevoh Chalobah is set to end his long association with Chelsea after Como agreed a deal worth an initial £25.7m. The England defender made 105 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and established himself as a first-team option during turbulent periods. The package includes £5.1m in performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause. For Chelsea, the departure of another homegrown academy product generates pure profit, a key factor as they balance the books.

Why Chalobah's Move is a Coup for Como

Como's head coach, Cesc Fàbregas, pushed to bring the centre-back to Italy. Chalobah, who has been at Chelsea since age eight, brings experience and defensive solidity. This signing could elevate Como's backline significantly in Serie A.

Chelsea Sign Jordan Henderson

On the same day, Chelsea welcomed Jordan Henderson after his departure from Brentford. The 36-year-old joined on a free transfer after playing 34 times for the Bees last season, earning a spot in England's World Cup squad. Henderson expressed excitement: "Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down."

Henderson's Career Journey

Henderson came through Sunderland's academy before joining Liverpool in 2011. He spent 12 seasons at Anfield, playing 492 games, captaining the team to Champions League victory in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020. After stints at Al-Ettifaq and Ajax, he moved to Brentford last summer. Now he brings leadership to Chelsea's midfield.
