In our latest set of corrections and clarifications, we address a significant error regarding a man who survived being sucked out of an aircraft window. The original article incorrectly stated that Ljubisa Karović was the only person to have survived such an ordeal. In fact, British Airways pilot Captain Timothy Lancaster also survived a similar incident in 1990. We strive to correct all inaccuracies promptly.
Key Correction: Plane Window Survival Incidents
On 10 June 1990, a British Airways flight from Birmingham to Málaga experienced a cockpit window failure. Captain Timothy Lancaster was propelled halfway through the opening and held by a flight attendant until the plane landed. Lancaster survived with severe injuries. This incident predates the 2024 event involving Ljubisa Karović, making Lancaster the first known survivor. Our reporting on 22 July wrongly omitted this history.
