Locksmith scams are on the rise, preying on people’s anxieties during emergencies. Victims like Chris Lohan report being charged £490 for a lock that costs just £15 on Amazon, highlighting the urgent need for awareness. These rogue operators often appear at the top of Google search results, exploiting trust and desperation.
How Locksmith Scams Work
Scammers typically advertise fake local businesses with high Google rankings. When you call, they send an unlicensed technician who inflates prices for simple jobs. They may claim the lock is high-security when it’s a cheap model, and they avoid providing invoices or company names.
