NFL preseason storylines are heating up as the Seattle Seahawks aim to repeat and the Los Angeles Rams look inevitable. The defending champions return 21 of 22 starters, but the Rams pushed them to the brink in the NFC Championship. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots face a scandal that could derail their season. Let's break down the key narratives.
Seahawks: Running It Forward
The Seahawks are in rare company, looking to become the 10th team to repeat as Super Bowl champions. Head coach Mike Macdonald emphasizes a proactive mindset, focusing on improvement rather than resting on past glory. Despite losing Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to the Chiefs and pass-rusher Boye Mafe to the Bengals, the core remains intact.

First-round pick Jadarian Price is poised to fill Walker's shoes. Price, who played behind Jeramiyah Love at Notre Dame, has drawn high praise from Love, who says Price can do everything he can—and sometimes better. Offensive coordinator Brian Fleury, promoted from the 49ers, will keep most of Kubiak's passing concepts while adding new wrinkles to the run game.
Key Factors for the Seahawks
- Returning 21 of 22 starters from the Super Bowl team
- New offensive coordinator Brian Fleury's system continuity
- Jadarian Price's breakout potential
- Mike Macdonald's forward-thinking leadership
Rams: The Inevitable Contenders
The Rams were Seattle's toughest opponent last season, playing them three times with a combined score differential of just 3 points. Their all-in approach, highlighted by aggressive trades and free-agent signings, has made them a powerhouse. The question is whether they can finally overcome the Seahawks in a playoff setting.
Los Angeles returns a loaded roster, but their window is now. With quarterback Matthew Stafford and defensive tackle Aaron Donald leading the charge, the Rams are built to win immediately. However, their depth and injury history remain concerns.
