Football Transfer Rumours: Alvarez to Arsenal or Barcelona 2026

The latest football transfer rumours are swirling as the new Premier League season approaches, with Julián Alvarez's future at Atlético Madrid becoming a hot topic. The former Manchester City forward is keen to join Barcelona, but Atlético prefer a move to Arsenal, setting the stage for a dramatic transfer saga.

Alvarez's Transfer Dilemma

Julián Alvarez has been linked with a move away from Atlético Madrid all summer. The Argentine striker, who joined from Manchester City, is reportedly eager to play for Barcelona. However, Atlético are reluctant to sell to a domestic rival, and they would rather see him join Arsenal. A meeting between the club's chief executive, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, and Alvarez is scheduled to determine his future.

Arsenal's Interest

Arsenal have emerged as a potential destination for Alvarez. The Gunners are looking to strengthen their attack, and Alvarez's versatility and goal-scoring ability make him an attractive option. If Atlético insist on selling abroad, Arsenal could be the beneficiaries, with Barcelona left disappointed.

Barcelona's Pursuit

Barcelona, on the other hand, are keen to bring Alvarez to Camp Nou. The Catalan club have already agreed a deal for Rodri, which could free up funds and squad space. However, Atlético's reluctance to strengthen a direct rival could block the move, leaving Alvarez with a difficult decision.

Other Transfer Rumours

Beyond Alvarez, several other clubs are active in the transfer market. Newcastle, after being raided earlier in the summer, are looking to add fresh faces. They have been linked with RB Leipzig midfielder Nicolas Seiwald, who previously worked under Matthias Jaissle at RB Salzburg. Meanwhile, Manchester United are still searching for a left-back after failing to secure Lewis Hall from Newcastle. They have turned their attention to Joaquin Seys of Club Brugge, who is described as a carbon copy of Hall.

Midfield Moves

Manchester United are also eyeing Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó. The 22-year-old could be available as Barcelona look to offload players after agreeing a deal for Rodri. Casadó would add depth to United's midfield, but they face competition from other clubs.

Liverpool's Wing Targets

Liverpool have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain wingers Bradley Barcola and 18-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye. A combined fee of £155m has been mooted for the pair, though Manchester United are also interested in Mbaye. Liverpool are looking to bolster their attacking options, and these signings could provide the creativity they need.

Leeds United's Ambitions

Leeds United have done solid business this summer and are now targeting Real Betis midfielder Nelson Deossa and Marseille winger Igor Paixão. However, Paixão could be tempted by the riches of the Saudi Pro League. Leeds are also considering Zian Flemming from Burnley, though he could cost nearly £20m.
