The Daphne Caruana Galizia murder plot took a dramatic turn in court as two former Maltese politicians were accused of involvement. The allegations, made during the trial of businessman Yorgen Fenech, have shaken the island nation and reignited global interest in the case.
Courtroom Bombshell: Politicians Named
During a chaotic session at the Valletta courts, brothers George and Alfred Degiorgio—underworld figures already serving 40-year sentences for planting the car bomb that killed Caruana Galizia in 2017—testified. Alfred Degiorgio named former economy minister Chris Cardona and former chief of staff Keith Schembri as “involved” in the murder. He also implicated lawyer David Gatt, an associate of Cardona.
