Hideaki Anno's Vision
Anno, best known for Neon Genesis Evangelion, grew up idolizing Kamen Rider. His Shin trilogy reimagines classic tokusatsu characters with modern filmmaking techniques. Shin Kamen Rider sits between the cynical critique of Shin Godzilla and the optimistic heroism of Shin Ultraman, offering a balanced worldview that is both skeptical of human nature and insistent on fighting for good.

Sosuke Ikematsu as Hongo delivers a brooding, intense performance, while Minami Hamabe's Ruriko provides emotional grounding. The action sequences are frenetic, featuring practical effects and fluid choreography. The film's Lovecraftian creature designs add a layer of horror to the superhero narrative.
