Stephen Fleming has been appointed as England's Test coach after impressing the ECB in recent interviews. The 53-year-old former New Zealand captain will work alongside his predecessor and compatriot Brendon McCullum, who continues to lead the white-ball teams. This move marks a new chapter for English cricket as the team prepares for key tours ahead.
Why the ECB Chose Stephen Fleming
After Brendon McCullum's sacking as Test coach, the ECB conducted a thorough search. Fleming's extensive experience in English cricket – as a player for Middlesex, Yorkshire, and Nottinghamshire, and as a coach with Southern Brave – made him a strong candidate. His relationship with McCullum also played a pivotal role, ensuring continuity and collaboration between the Test and white-ball setups.
