The agreement, signed by US Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, includes a peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement and bilateral safeguards.

|---|---|---|
| Proliferation standards | Stronger safeguards required | Weaker or no safeguards |
| Enrichment allowed | Potentially, under monitoring | Likely without restrictions |
| Geopolitical impact | Preserves US influence | Undermines US national security |
Why This Deal Matters
Administration officials argue that without this deal, Saudi Arabia would turn to China or Russia for nuclear technology, which could have severe consequences for global security. The agreement is now subject to congressional review.
