The Art Behind Bub
Created by artist Case Jernigan and coder Todd Anderson, Bub takes years of painstaking stop-motion animation, with every frame built from paper cutouts, paintings, and delicate drawings. The game explores Jernigan's own experiences as an artist grappling with multiple sclerosis (MS) and anxiety.

Gameplay and Narrative
Players navigate through the protagonist's present-day New York life, then delve into his childhood memories and surreal dreams. The controls are intuitive, but Anderson says they intentionally avoid perfect responsiveness to mirror the unpredictability of memory and illness. The tagline captures the core theme: “turning your memories into art while you still can.”
