Champions Inter Deny Roma as Martinez Haunts Gasperini 2026

Champions Inter deny would-be title rivals Roma as Lautaro Martínez haunts Gian Piero Gasperini in a dramatic 2-2 Serie A draw at the Stadio Olimpico. The Argentine striker scored twice in the second half to cancel out Manu Koné's first-half brace, leaving Gasperini smiling wryly at the final whistle. It was a classic case of a great champion making the difference when it mattered most.

Match Overview: Roma vs Inter

Roma started brightly and took the lead in the sixth minute through Koné, who capitalised on a defensive lapse. The Giallorossi doubled their advantage before half-time, again through Koné, as they pressed Inter high up the pitch and engaged in aggressive man-to-man duels. Gasperini's side looked every bit a team in his image: bold, intense, and unafraid to take risks against the champions.

Lautaro Martínez: The Roma Slayer

After the break, Inter responded with purpose. Lautaro Martínez, who has a remarkable record against Gasperini's teams, pulled one back with a clinical finish. He then equalised with a trademark strike, leaving Roma defenders grasping at air. "He always scores against me," Gasperini admitted with a laugh. "I told him to stop it! He does it to everyone, though. He's a great champion."
