Glasgow 2026 Closing Ceremony: A Grand Finale

The closing ceremony at The Hydro and along the River Clyde featured a dazzling display of fireworks and music. Simple Minds, the legendary Scottish band, performed their iconic hit "Don't You (Forget About Me)" as Jim Kerr gave an energetic performance despite looking tired. The event also included sets from DJ George Bowie (GBX) and the Reel Time Cailidh Band, a modern folk-rock group that had volunteers dancing Scottish jigs.

Diversity, the dance troupe that won Britain's Got Talent in 2009, also performed, impressing the crowd with their moves. Bagpipes were ever-present, reminding everyone of Scotland's rich cultural heritage. The ceremony was a fitting tribute to the athletes and volunteers who made the Games memorable.

Prince Edward's Proclamation and the Call for Amdavad 2030

HRH Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, addressed the athletes, first humorously telling them to turn around as they were facing the wrong way. He then thanked everyone involved and called upon all athletes to gather in four years' time in Amdavad for the 24th Commonwealth Games, marking the centenary of the Games. He officially proclaimed Glasgow 2026 closed.
